The ES is Lexus's mid-size luxury sedan, and it is one of the brand's best sellers for good reason. It lines up against the BMW 5 Series, the Mercedes E-Class and the Audi A6, though it plays a softer, calmer game than those. From Korea it is a strong buy. You get a near-silent hybrid sedan, barely used, for a fraction of what the German badges cost.
The ES is built to glide, not to attack corners. The ride is soft and the cabin is hushed at speed. Inside you get supple leather, a wide screen and seats made for long drives. The standout is how quiet and relaxed it feels, more like a bigger flagship than its price suggests.
