The Toyota 86 is a small, light, rear-wheel-drive sports coupe built for the pure joy of driving. It shares its bones with the Subaru BRZ and goes up against cars like the Mazda MX-5 and the Ford Mustang. Korea gets clean, low-mileage examples of both the older 2.0 and the newer 2.4 GR86, and buying from there often means a sharper price than the home market.
It is a driver's car first. The boxer engine sits low, the steering talks to you, and the whole car feels eager in a corner. Inside it is snug and simple, with two small back seats that are really for bags. Toyota's mechanical toughness carries over, so it holds up well as a weekend car or a daily one.
