The i4 is BMW's electric four-door Gran Coupe, based on the 4 Series shape. It is a sleek fastback with a real boot, so it works as an everyday car that happens to be electric. Rivals are the Tesla Model 3, the Polestar 2, and the Hyundai Ioniq 6. Korea is a strong source for EVs. The charging network is good, cars are city-used and gentle, and low-mileage examples are easy to find.
The eDrive40 is quiet, quick enough, and goes a long way on a charge. The M50 adds a second motor and huge shove, hitting sports-car pace in a straight line. Inside you get the curved twin-screen dash and a low, planted seating position. The standout thing is the range on the eDrive40, which makes long trips easy.
