The 8 Series is BMW's big flagship two-door and four-door grand tourer. It sits at the top of the range, above the 5 Series, and rivals the Mercedes CLS, the Audi A7 and the Porsche Panamera. The Gran Coupe is the four-door with real back seats, while the Coupe is the sleeker two-door. It makes a smart Korea buy because these cars hold well and Korea had a strong market for loaded, low-mileage examples with the diesel and V8 options you rarely see elsewhere.
On the road it feels more grand tourer than sports car, quiet and stable at speed with plenty of power in reserve. Inside it is low, snug, and richly finished, with a digital dash and quality leather. The standout is the M850i, a serious twin-turbo V8 that turns the big coupe genuinely fast.
