The 1 Series is BMW's smallest car, a five-door hatchback that sits below the 3 Series. This is the F40 generation, which switched to front-wheel drive for most trims. It goes up against the Mercedes A-Class and Audi A3. For a Korea buy it makes sense because Korean owners tend to keep low mileage and service on time, so you get a premium hatch for the price of a plain economy car.
It drives tight and eager, with a firm feel that suits city streets and quick corners. The cabin is well built and modern for the class, with good materials up front. The standout is the M135i xDrive, a hot hatch with all-wheel drive and real pace, while the 118d sips diesel on long runs.
